Purpose

To supervise the Machine Maintenance Technicians, troubleshoot, and repair injection molding machines. Maintain maximum machine production capability, and plant cleanliness.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Support and investigate situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Complete responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Actively lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required safety meetings (e.g., Pre-Shift, Department, Change Management, General Communication, Town Hall).
  • Complete incident investigations, root cause analysis and implement corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensure proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Set goals for their organizational unit; achieve goals and ensure that all employees understand and work toward achieving them.
  • Motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback; identify and coordinate additional training as needed.

Responsibilities And Authority
  • Supervise and direct the Machine Maintenance Technicians.
  • Communicate activities with Manager and other department members.
  • Keep PM Maintenance Program up-to-date.
  • Requisition or procure parts required for repairs or projects.
  • Inspect and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, electrical and mechanical systems on molding machines.
  • Seek training to stay current with job requirements.
  • Assume control of machine when a situation arises which has potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of machine.
  • Perform any other duties as established by Molding Machine Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and applicable regulatory laws.
  • Lead department in the MM manager's absence.
  • Ability to work with vendors.
  • Must be a journeyman or have 3 years’ experience and working to become a journeyman.
  • Able to troubleshoot over the phone with OEM support personnel.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to supervise people.
  • Self-starter with eagerness to learn and take initiative.
  • Ability to read rulers, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read, understand and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints.

Ability to utilize computer systems used in tracking of personnel, for requisitioning and tracking of various parts and supplies within the department.
