Job summary

Modular is seeking a Debugging and Tooling Engineer to advance the Mojo debugger and tooling. You will drive LLDB-based debugger development, improve interactive debugging, IDE integration, and debug info formats, collaborating with Mojo compiler teams.

This role offers hybrid work options in the US/Canada/UK with onboarding in person, opportunities to work on GPU debugging and open-source contributions, and a roadmap-influencing position with strong impact on developer experience.

Qualifications

• Contributions to SDK and dev tools for a major programming language.
• Track record of improving developers productivity with tools.
• Experience working with community or developer relation teams.
• Past experience working on LLDB.
• Exposure to the LLVM ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Mojo LLDB-based debugger from experimental to mature.
• Work on interactive debugging, IDE integration, debug info formats, and expression evaluator.
• Contribute to other projects like GPU debugging, agentic debugging, and profiler support.
• Help define the Mojo debugger roadmap and tooling.
• Collaborate with developer relations and Mojo compiler team, engaging with the community.
