Job summary

Impulse Space in Mojave is seeking a Site Director to lead the Propulsion Test Facility, owning safe, reliable, and high‑performing operations and test execution. You will drive facility readiness and manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and test operators.

The role requires extensive liquid propulsion experience, strong leadership, and a track record of building teams and a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or related field.
• 10+ years of development or production test engineering experience.
• Proven ability to build and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience with fluid systems, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in fast-paced development environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and operational accountability for the Propulsion Test Facility, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient execution of all site activities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary organization of engineers, technicians, and test operators, fostering accountability and continuous learning.
• Own all aspects of facility operations, including test execution, infrastructure, maintenance, hazardous operations, and readiness.
• Establish operational priorities and manage schedules, staffing, and resources to support development, qualification, and production tests.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, and PMO to meet current objectives and scale to future needs.
• Oversee facility maintenance, capital improvements, equipment upgrades, and long-term infrastructure planning.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; uphold high standards of discipline.
• Lead root cause investigations and continuous improvement to improve safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Resolve complex technical and operational challenges through sound engineering judgment and cross-functional collaboration.
• Set and maintain high technical, operational, and professional standards across the organization.
• Serve as primary decision-maker during critical operations and guide the team during off-nominal events.
