Lenahan Dermatology PLLC in East Amherst, NY seeks a Mohs Surgery Nurse (LPN/RN) for a part-time role (24–32 hours/week). You will work with the Mohs surgeon to provide comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care, including vitals, patient education, and wound care. A NY license is required and 2+ years in dermatology or surgical nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current New York State RN or LPN license required.
• 2+ years of dermatology, surgical, or procedural nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for Mohs surgery by reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, and other pertinent clinical information.
• Educate patients regarding surgical procedures, expectations, wound care, medication, and post-operative instructions.
• Obtain and record vital signs and other important patient information.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after the procedure, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition.
• Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, medication and equipment.
• Prepare procedure rooms and maintain sterile surgical technique.
• Administer local anesthesia to the surgical site prior to cases, ensuring accurate dosage and proper technique under surgeon supervision.
• Assist Mohs surgeon during surgical procedures and anticipate surgeon needs to promote efficient surgical flow and patient care.
• Administer medications and treatments as permitted by licensure and surgeon orders.
• Apply surgical dressings and assist with wound care and post-operative bandaging.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
