Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. seeks a Cellular Technologies Software Engineer to design, implement, verify, and validate state‑of‑the‑art cellular air interface technologies across prototypes, standards, and components.

You will work with cross‑functional teams on modem firmware and DSP development within constrained embedded environments. The role emphasizes PHY layer modem firmware, SIMD‑optimized low‑level instructions, and test‑driven development, with opportunities to contribute to ORAN/FAPI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

As a Qualcomm Cellular Technologies Software Engineer, you will design, standardize, implement, verify, and validate state‑of‑the‑art cellular technologies across a broad set of technology prototypes, standards, specifications, products, or components within a product. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop high quality and capability air interface and modem that meet and exceed industry standards and customer requirements. You would be a part of Qualcomm proprietary vector DSP FW development team. You will contribute to PHY layer modem FW, Qualcomm proprietary DSP low level ASM type optimized SIMD instruction set programming, Modem signal processing for Tx and Rx baseband chain, Modem control SW orchestration, embedded FW design with constrained MIPS and memory. You would also design for test, debug, test‑driven development and AI/ML native modem enhancements. The role would require working with the integration teams by developing efficient test methodology for modem DSP FW and have an opportunity to contribute to ORAN and FAPI specifications.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience with computer architecture or embedded systems.
• DSP development experience, Matlab, Modem/PHY layer FW development, Familiarity with 5G NR/LTE protocols

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Applies Wireless WAN Modem Software knowledge to assist in the design, standardization, implementation, verification, validation, and commercialization of Wireless WAN (or cellular) air interfaces, modem technologies, and related core network.
• Assists in the design, optimization, and implementation of software for wireless systems and modems.
• Collaborates with team members to develop high quality and high capability air interface and modems with high performance (e.g., capacity, coverage, throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost.
• Designs products that meet customer requirements and standards
• Develops unit test cases to test/verify code for a well‑defined component and assists with the integration of software into a platform or product.
• Writes technical documentation and feature descriptions for projects to guide users to implement output.

Pay Range And Other Compensation & Benefits

$109,400.00 - $164,200.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
