Job description

Overview

Torch Technologies is seeking a Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Engineer 3 to provide MS&A support to the United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command (USSF/STARCOM). This role focuses on modeling space warfighting capabilities within existing tools and developing application interfaces to integrate these capabilities into the Digital Engineering Ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Provide requirement recommendations for future updates to analytical models, methods, and M&S tools, with specific focus on radar and satellite system modeling.
  • Augment tool requirement development through mission research and analysis and produce COAs for developing new analytical models and tools.
  • Capture requirements for existing MS&A tools like AFRL's AFSIM or SDMC's EADSIM to add space effects and radar/satellite capabilities.
  • Support development and implementation of distributed M&S frameworks addressing time synchronization, truth scene generation, and multi‑system integration challenges.
  • Develop a plan to refine prototype modeling applications including relevant understanding of graphical user interfaces to refine data requirements, employment procedures, and usability for end‑user.
  • Coordinate with others to identify and solve a variety of problems and clarify management objectives.
  • Create analytical models and simulations for radar and satellite systems.
  • Analyze space system operational, technical, programmatic, and acquisition inputs and formulate recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Brief and interact with senior‑level officers (i.e., GO/FLAG) and senior civilians.
  • Support requirements development and documentation for distributed M&S architectures.
Job Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, modeling and simulation, operations research, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related STEM field (master's degree highly preferred).
  • 5+ years of system design experience, including hardware/software integration.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: modeling and simulation development and implementation; radar systems analysis and simulation; satellite systems modeling and operations.
  • Experience in M&S requirements development and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of distributed M&S architectures, including time management and synchronization protocols, truth scene generation and management, and complex system‑of‑systems interactions and integration.
Technical Skills Required
  • Understanding of military space operations (Space Domain Awareness, Command & Control, Satellite Communications, Position, Navigation & Timing, Overhead Persistent Infrared, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, Missile Warning, Offensive & Defensive Space Control, and Missile Defense).
  • Proficiency in programming languages or statistical packages: R, Python, MATLAB, SAS, JAVA, JMP, Excel VBA, STORM, SEAS, Power BI, Tableau, Qlick, SPSS, PSPP, and SymPy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in analytic tool characterization, development, and assessment.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic abilities to integrate and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of modeling and analysis using mathematical/quantitative methods.
  • Expertise using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially when communicating technical information to audiences with varying backgrounds.
Highly Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience supporting Missile Defense Agency programs.
  • Previous M&S and staff experience on a CCMD, MAJCOM, HHQ, Joint Staff, OSD, etc. staff.
  • Understanding of military operations, or prior military experience in a position that required modeling and analysis on a Joint Staff or Service staff.
  • Experience with High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Knowledge of DoW modeling and simulation standards and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with radar phenomenology, signal processing, and tracking algorithms.
  • Knowledge of satellite orbital mechanics, communications, and sensor systems.
