Your Role :

The Model Risk Advisor, Senior will be responsible for promoting effective governance practices, assisting in maintaining and adopting AI policies and standards, streamlining governance processes, and identifying insights to close compliance gaps. This role plays a key part in fostering collaboration, driving compliance, and continuously improving AI governance within the organization.

  • Engage with the enterprise AI community to promote understanding and adoption of AI policies and standards, fostering responsible and ethical AI use.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain an inventory of all models (statistical, machine learning, AI, GenAI) used within the organization.
  • Establish clear ownership and assess risk ratings of models based on complexity, compliance, impact, and usage.
  • Partner with internal groups and vendors to maintain complete and accurate AI Model metadata.
  • Monitor model performance and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Oversee validation/testing processes, define scope, assess results, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Participate in AI Model Governance oversight, measurement, and ensure policy and standard consistency through audits and reviews.
  • Design reporting and metrics frameworks for project management and executive reports to provide strategic insights into AI governance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and optimization to enhance AI governance operations.
  • Stay updated with regulatory and Department of Insurance expectations regarding AI Model risks.
  • Develop and implement frameworks, processes, and controls for Model Risk Management.
  • Coordinate policy development, standards, procedures, and approval processes with partners.
  • Promote awareness of AI Model governance policies and standards among Model owners and developers.
  • Implement and monitor alignment with enterprise AI Model governance policies and standards.
  • Develop controls to mitigate AI/Model risks, and report on them.
  • Identify and handle emerging AI Model risks from business activities.
  • Support internal audits and coordinate with the Enterprise Risk Office to mitigate AI Model risks.
  • Ensure risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, reported, and controlled.
  • Assess current AI Model Governance processes and tools, and propose improvements.
  • Resolve problems and issues effectively, escalating when necessary.
  • Execute AI Model Governance and Model Risk management practices independently.
  • Recommend improvements around compliance to AI Model Governance solutions through reviews against policies and standards.
Required Experience, Education, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, data science, or a related field.
  • Four years of work experience in Model governance, Model Risk Management, Audit, or information management, which can substitute for a degree.
  • Six+ years of experience in Model risk management, risk, and audit.
  • Experience deploying AI Model governance and risk programs across large enterprises.
  • Knowledge of AI governance principles, including ethics, regulatory compliance (e.g., EU AI Act, AI Executive Order), and risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST).
  • Understanding of bias testing and remediation for machine learning and generative AI models.
  • General understanding of risk and compliance principles for AI Model Governance and data management.
  • Proven experience in AI ethics, governance, and compliance roles.
  • Ability to lead and influence change within complex organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder relationship building.

  • Commitment to supporting business needs, including extra time and assisting other teams.
