Overview

This is an on‑site role in Colorado Springs, CO. The senior Model‑Based Systems Engineer leads the development and representation of future space architectures using SysML. The role requires an active TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility clearance and a willingness to obtain a CI Poly.

Responsibilities

• Lead creation of MBSE artifacts in SysML that translate conceptual architectures and analytical results into structured, interoperable system models.
• Develop and maintain MBSE artifacts to represent candidate space architectures.
• Translate conceptual system designs, trade study outputs, and mission scenarios into structured system models.
• Create and manage core SysML artifacts, including Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), Activity and sequence diagrams, and Requirements diagrams with traceability.
• Ensure models interface smoothly with external systems, analytical tools, and data environments.
• Collaborate with trade space analysts, data scientists, and modeling & simulation teams.
• Support development of system architectures, interfaces, and requirements for notional and emerging space capabilities.
• Apply architecture frameworks such as DoDAF and UAF to align models with stakeholder expectations.
• Maintain model integrity, consistency, and version control as architectures evolve.
• Contribute to technical reports, briefings, and stakeholder engagements.
• Provide guidance on MBSE best practices and mentor team members.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Active TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility clearance and willingness to obtain CI Poly.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing SysML models.
• Hands‑on experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles: requirements decomposition and traceability, functional and logical architecture development, interface definition, and system integration.
• Experience developing models that interface with external tools, data sources, or analytical environments.
• Ability to translate ambiguous or evolving concepts into structured system models.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting early‑phase concept development, architecture definition, or pre‑acquisition analysis.
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as DoDAF or UAF.
• Experience integrating MBSE models with modeling & simulation tools, data analytics pipelines, external interfaces or APIs.
• Background in space systems, including satellite architectures, ground systems, or mission analysis.
• Experience with digital engineering environments or model integration across platforms.
• Advanced degree in Systems Engineering or related field.

Salary

Target salary range: $130,000 - $211,000.
