Job summary

Lonza Portsmouth, NH is seeking a MODA-ES Supervisor to lead the MES Engineering team supporting electronic batch records (eBR) within the MODA-ES platform. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement to ensure compliant, efficient manufacturing operations.

This site-based role offers limited flexibility, cross-functional collaboration with Quality, CAPEX, and Global teams, and opportunities to work with advanced digital manufacturing technologies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• 5-10 years of experience supporting automation systems or MES; MODA-ES experience preferred.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
• Experience with deviations, CAPAs, and change controls.
• Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the MES Engineering team, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
• Drive MES-related projects and support maintenance/enhancement of electronic batch records within MODA-ES.
• Develop team schedules, prioritize workloads, and manage timelines/deliverables.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, CAPEX, Global, and customer teams to ensure project success.
• Author, review, and close quality records, including deviations, CAPAs, and change controls.
• Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting, and guidance for MES applications and related systems.
• Lead training initiatives for MES Engineers and Manufacturing personnel.

What you will do

Lead and supervise the MES Engineering team, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.

Lead training initiatives for MES Engineers, Manufacturing personnel, and other key stakeholders.

What we are looking for

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

5-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

5-10 years of experience supporting automation systems or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES); MODA-ES experience is preferred.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.

Experience with quality systems, including deviations, CAPAs, and change controls.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
