Job summary

Marathon Electric, part of the WEG Group, seeks a Modification Center Lead to coordinate daily production activities in our Indianapolis area facility. You will guide a production team, prioritize safety, and drive continuous improvement across the modification center.

Ideal candidates bring 2–5 years in production with strong electrical/mechanical aptitude, 5S experience, and solid communication skills to support cross-functional teams and meet delivery commitments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• 2–5 years in production environment; strong electrical/mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with maintenance/modification in a production setting.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient with Excel and general PC skills; ERP familiarity helpful.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day activities of production personnel.
• Perform 5S audits and drive improvements.
• Review workload and shift personnel accordingly.
• Coordinate with customer service to meet delivery commitments.
• Track department metrics: Safety, Quality, Throughput.
• Lead daily team meetings; enforce safety and policy guidelines.
• Escalate issues identified by Technicians; support equipment maintenance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

The Modification Center Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the Modification Center’s production areas. The successful candidate will be results focused with a high level of technical aptitude and the ability to coordinate with multiple parties to achieve results. This position also requires a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to foster a culture that embraces change.. You must have the ability to problem-solving skills, comply with all relevant safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for directing the day to day activities of production personnel.
• Performing 5S audits and implementing improvements.
• Reviewing production workload and shifting personnel accordingly.
• Proactively coordinate customer service to ensure delivery commitments are met.
• Responsible for tracking department “line level” metrics (Safety, Quality, Throughput).
• Lead production area daily team meetings.
• Enforce department safety guidelines and company Policy, working with department supervisor to address/resolve any disciplinary issues.
• Act as the first level of escalation for problems identified by Technicians.
• Ensure department equipment is maintained and proper shutdown procedures are followed.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-5 years’ experience in a production environment, Associates Degree preferred.
• Excellent electrical/mechanical aptitude with maintenance/modification experience.
• Strong critical reasoning skills with the ability to identify and solve problems.
• Microsoft office and PC skills with ability to review and update Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to make sound decisions regarding resource utilization and needs.
• Aptitude for teambuilding and employee engagement.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Results-oriented, process improvement focused.
• Ability to work cross functionally to achieve outstanding results.
• Experience using ERP Systems (Oracle preferred)

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

This position is done in a Warehouse environment typically indoors but may require access to outdoors for work at times. This position requires the ability to drive a forklift: Reach Truck, Order Picker and/or Turret Truck. The position requires a person to be able to frequently walk, stand, bend and twist; see, hear and talk; use fingers and hands, handle or feel controls or product; use hands and arms to reach, hold and carry product. Frequently lifting/moving up to 35 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. is required. This position also requires a person to handle different temperatures as the Warehouse is hot in the summer and cooler in the winter.

In this business area, our focus is the market of single phase motors for durable consumer goods, such as washing machines, air conditioners, water pumps, among others.
