Omni Wound Physicians – In-Person Field-Based Care Across Illinois

Full-Time or Part-Time | Direct Hire (W-2) or 1099 Contractor

Omni Wound Physicians is actively hiring Mobile Wound Care Physicians (MDs / DOs) across Illinois to deliver advanced, in-person wound care services. This is a field-based, procedural physician role serving patients in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), long-term care centers, and private residences.

This opportunity is ideal for physicians seeking autonomy, flexibility, and purpose-driven care delivery in a mobile environment. Both direct hire (W-2) and independent contractor (1099) models are available.

We are currently hiring in :

  • Chicago Metro Area : Including but not limited to Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, Kane, and McHenry counties

Statewide travel opportunities for underserved or rural areas

Our team covers both urban and rural areas, ensuring that patients across Illinois receive high-quality wound care services wherever they are needed.

Schedule & Shift Options

  • Minimum Scheduling Requirement : At least two shifts per work week.
  • Shifts : Typically between 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM local time (subject to change based on business needs).
  • Full-Time : Minimum 30+ hours per week (includes full benefits package).
  • Part-Time : Minimum 2 shifts per week (paid sick time accrual available).
  • On-Call & Weekend Coverage : Some on-call or weekend coverage may be required, but team members will typically be notified in advance to ensure personal commitments are not interrupted whenever possible.

Pay Transparency

  • Employment Pay Range : $245,000 – $325,000 annually

Final compensation is based on provider classification, regional coverage, experience, and productivity. This role may also include incentive or bonus eligibility depending on assignment type.

  • Must provide :

o Required active / valid documentation (LLC, EIN, W-9)

  • Mileage not reimbursed (eligible as tax-deductible expense)

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver bedside wound care to patients in SNFs, LTCs, and homes
  • Perform wound care procedures : sharp debridement, NPWT, biopsies, gastrostomy care
  • Diagnose and manage complex wounds (diabetic, venous, arterial, pressure, post-op)
  • Secure and document informed patient consent prior to treatment
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound management and prevention
  • Document visits in real time using OWP’s HIPAA-compliant EHR system
  • Collaborate with SNF staff, interdisciplinary teams, and internal coordinators
  • Participate in clinical quality improvement and workflow optimization
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned in support of organizational goals

Qualifications & Experience

Required :

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Illinois
  • Board certification in a relevant specialty (Surgery preferred; OB / GYN, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine also accepted)
  • Minimum of 3–6 years of clinical practice in wound care, geriatrics, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or related specialties
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Illinois driver’s license

Preferred :

  • Wound Care Certification (CWSP, CWS) or ability to obtain within 1 month
  • DEA registration for prescriptive authority (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or home health settings
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and workflow efficiency tools

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Able to walk, stand, bend, and perform bedside procedures for extended periods
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds (equipment, supplies)
  • Daily driving required (up to 70 miles / day)
  • Must have auto insurance meeting Illinois minimum liability requirements
  • Must enter SNFs or homes that may lack ADA access or elevator service
  • Must document care using mobile technology (tablet, laptop)
  • Full Practice Authority : MDs and DOs may independently treat and prescribe
  • CME Requirement : 150 hours every three years, including specific courses on :

o Implicit bias awareness (1 hour every renewal period)

o Sexual harassment prevention (1 hour every renewal period)

o Alzheimer's disease and other dementias (1 hour every six years)

o Cultural competency (1 hour every six years)

o Mandated reporter training for child abuse and neglect (initial training within 3 months of engagement and every 6 years thereafter)

  • Controlled Substances : DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License required for prescribing Schedule II–V medications
  • License Renewal : Biennial via Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
