Job summary

Humane Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support free and low-cost clinics both offsite and onsite. You will log medical records, educate clients, and assist veterinarians with vaccines, medications, and homecare instructions.

The role requires strong communication, empathy, and the ability to work across departments to improve patient experiences. Weekend and some evening hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and empathy when interacting with pet owners.
• Ability to work across departments to support patient care and client services.
• Willingness to learn multiple record-keeping software programs.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission of Humane Animal Rescue.
• Support free and low-cost clinics both offsite and onsite; assist in MOVES mobile clinic operations.
• Educate clients on pet ownership responsibilities and vaccine protocols.
• Log medical records and manage inventory for mobile clinic supplies.
• Answer client questions by phone or email; schedule appointments and reminders.
• Explain medications, homecare instructions, and follow-up needs to clients.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance client experience, safety, and volunteer support.
• Manage vaccinations and vaccination protocols with veterinarians as needed.
• Log usage of controlled substances and maintain proper records.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the MOVES vehicle; track program spending.
