Job Summary

To support the growth of the company, Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician II. This is a dedicated on-site position without emergency roadside repairs. If you're seeking a new home, we want to talk to you! The Mobile Trailer Technician II performs certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, and other duties such as aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and panel/body replacement. Work is performed at the customer's site. The technician can perform advanced repairs under supervision and assists higher-level technicians while learning additional skills. A successful technician complies with all policies and maintains high performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Follow and comply with safety practices and procedures.
• Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck, perform reconciliation.
• Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Apply knowledge from training or experience to perform job duties, understand technical information.
• Work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs in the field.
• Respond to dispatched service requests.
• Use hand tools, welding equipment, and other tools as needed.
• Document work and upload pictures using company devices and applications.
• Complete DOT and other documentation timely.
• Work independently, maintain productivity, and meet repair time standards.
• Obtain parts from vendors as needed.
• Communicate with management for approvals and updates.
• Comply with safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations.
• Participate in safety training.
• Establish good relationships with customers and vendors.
• Maintain the service truck and perform minor repairs on trailers and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair trailer systems, including brakes, air lines, liftgates, and welding.
• Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent education/certification and experience.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one.
• Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
• OEM training and certifications preferred.
• Must be 21 or older.
• Complete company-required training.

Certifications

• ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Preferred: ASE 608/609, T4, T5, T6, T7 certifications.
