JOB SUMMARY

Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician II for an on-site role. This position does not involve emergency roadside repairs. The technician will perform certified DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, light repairs, and other duties such as working on aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and body/frame replacement. Work is performed at customer sites. The role involves assisting senior technicians and developing advanced mechanical skills, adhering to company policies and performance metrics.

DUTIES

• Follow safety practices and procedures.
• Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck.
• Conduct safety checks and vehicle inspections.
• Apply technical knowledge to perform job duties.
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
• Respond to dispatched service requests.
• Use hand tools, welding equipment, and other tools.
• Document work and upload pictures using company devices and applications.
• Complete DOT and other forms accurately and timely.
• Work independently and maintain productivity.
• Obtain parts from vendors as needed.
• Coordinate with management for approvals and discussions.
• Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Participate in safety training.
• Build good relationships with customers and vendors.
• Perform minor repairs on trailers and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair trailer systems, including aluminum, brakes, air lines, liftgates, and more.
• Assist senior technicians with diagnostics.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Own set of hand tools.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Obtain 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
• Must pass DOT physical and background screening.
• Valid driver’s license, able to drive in accordance with DOT requirements, and at least 21 years old.

CERTIFICATIONS TO OBTAIN WITHIN 18 MONTHS

• ASE T8 (PMI)
• ASE 608/609
