Job summary

Jobtailor in Minneapolis, MN is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers, focusing on brakes, electrical, hydraulic, A/C, engine, and after-treatment systems. You will perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections on a mobile road call and in-yard basis.

This role requires 3+ years in commercial repair, EPA/ASE certifications a plus, a valid CDL, the ability to lift 50+ pounds, and proficiency with billing and work orders.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience repairing Commercial Tractor and Trailers.
• Experienced in performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record & no suspensions.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Comfortable working with Computers for billing and work orders.
• Experience with stick welding.
• Your own tools.
• Certifications are a plus | EPA 608/609/Universal & ASE

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers, including brakes, electrical, hydraulic, A/C, engine, exhaust, systems, components and after-treatment systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections; service and replace parts like tires, hubs, axles, and lift-gates.
• Write work orders and open/close repair orders on a company device for mobile road calls and in-yard work.
• Inspect tractors and trailers to meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements.
• Manage service truck inventory and source parts from local vendors.
• Complete inspection reports and DOT documentation accurately and on time.
• Deliver strong customer service and report findings to management.
