Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21+ for over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair.
  • Possess a clean motor vehicle record per company guidelines.
  • Willing to work outdoors and across multiple shifts, including nights/weekends if needed.
  • Able to supply own basic tools or participate in toolbox purchase program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment.
  • Troubleshoot ABS system and electrical diagnostics.
  • Operate mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
  • Mentor tractor technician trainees and document work orders accurately.
  • Follow safety requirements on-site and at customer locations.
  • Document damage and estimate repair costs.
  • Demonstrate welding and cutting skills for mid-level repairs on chassis and doors.

Job description

Job Summary: As a Mobile Technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. Under routine supervision, this role works outside of the shop, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards using our mobile service truck.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
  • Properly operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
  • Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
  • Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
  • Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
  • Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
  • Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
  • Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision
Minimum Qualifications
  • 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
  • AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
  • Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
  • Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
  • Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
  • Welding certification
  • Forklift certification and experience
  • EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $25.20 - $37.80

This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education,experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may beeligible forannual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of theCompany’s bonusand incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
