Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education in Alabama seeks an ITINERANT SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT to support a certified teacher, implement behavioral and academic plans, and help with instructional materials and classroom routines.

Under supervision, you will work with students with disabilities, assist with mobility and daily activities, and participate in supervision during lunch, play periods, and field trips.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred for the role.
• Two years of higher education and Work Keys Test completed are required.
• Experience with students with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a certified teacher, perform instructional tasks.
• Assist with students to maintain behavioral control and implement plans as needed.
• Work with small groups to reinforce learning introduced by the teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials for classroom use.
• Assist in routine clerical duties such as grading papers.
• Assist in feeding, positioning, lifting, or moving students as needed.
