Job summary

CoverageX is seeking a Mobile Solutions Architect to bridge business and product engineering for native iOS and Android apps in Newport Beach, CA. You will translate requirements into technical direction, define module boundaries, and guide delivery across platforms from design to deployment.

You will own release engineering, CI/CD pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud), app performance metrics, and collaboration with CTO and stakeholders to drive scalable mobile architecture

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience, with 4+ years shipping native mobile apps.
• Deep hands-on experience with iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin/Jetpack).
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and modern mobile architectures.
• Track record of delivering live consumer apps in App Store/Play Store.
• Strong API design, backend integration, and offline persistence knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of native iOS and Android apps, defining modules, state, navigation and DI.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs, screen flows and API contracts.
• Review technical approaches and conduct design reviews for complex features.
• Identify risks including offline behavior, background execution, OS fragmentation, permissions.
• Ensure integrations between apps, backend, CRM, payments and third-party SDKs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess feasibility and scope for new mobile initiatives.
• Convert requirements into developer-ready tickets with acceptance criteria.
• Oversee release engineering, CI/CD pipelines, code signing and deployment processes.
• Monitor app reliability and performance using Crashlytics, Sentry, and store consoles.
• Provide updates and architectural recommendations to CTO and tech leaders.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile Solutions Architect to join our team in a hands‑on, high‑impact role focused on bridging the gap between business and product engineering. This role turns business requirements into clear technical direction for our native iOS and Android applications, ensures mobile systems and architecture are designed correctly, and enables engineering teams to execute efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose) applications, defining module boundaries, state management, navigation, and dependency injection.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical designs, screen flows, and API contracts for development teams.
• Review and validate technical approaches before development begins; conduct design reviews for complex features.
• Identify risks and edge cases early, including offline behavior, background execution, OS fragmentation, and permission states.
• Ensure proper integrations between mobile apps, backend services, CRM, payment systems, and third‑party SDKs.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and product owners to assess feasibility and define scope for new mobile initiatives.
• Partner with product owners to convert business requirements into developer‑ready tickets, defining acceptance criteria and platform‑specific behaviors.
• Sequence technical delivery around mobile realities, including store review timelines, phased rollouts, and minimum‑supported‑OS policies.
• Support mobile developers by unblocking technical issues and providing hands‑on guidance across both iOS and Android platforms.
• Occasionally contribute code in Swift or Kotlin to resolve blockers preventing progress.
• Own mobile release engineering, CI/CD automation pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud), code signing, and store deployment processes.
• Oversee app reliability and performance metrics (crash‑free rates, cold‑start time, app size) using Crashlytics, Sentry, App Store Connect, and Google Play Console.
• Provide clear updates, risk assessments, and architectural recommendations to the CTO and technology leaders.
• Translate effectively between mobile engineering and non‑technical teams regarding launch impacts, OS deprecations, or store policy changes.
• Champion scalable, maintainable mobile architecture, privacy standards, and store compliance (App Store Guidelines, Google Play policies).

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in software development or engineering, with at least 4+ years dedicated to building and shipping native mobile applications.
• Deep hands‑on technical experience with both iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK) platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with mobile cross‑platform patterns and modern technologies like Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
• Track record of shipping, maintaining, and updating live consumer applications in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Strong technical knowledge of mobile API design, REST/gRPC protocols, authentication standards (OAuth 2.0, biometric auth), and offline persistence (CoreData/SwiftData, Room/SQLite).
• Solid grasp of backend system integration, relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL), and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis).
• Expertise in mobile security, including Keychain/Keystore management, certificate pinning, secure storage of sensitive customer data, and OWASP mobile security principles.
• Experience with push notification infrastructure (APNs, FCM), deep linking, feature flagging, and mobile analytics.
• Hands‑on experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, Git strategies, and AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex).
• Experience working in fast‑paced, multi‑system environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align cross‑functional stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cross‑platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter) and judgment on architectural trade‑offs.
• Experience with CRM systems and dialer/telephony platforms (Twilio Voice, CallKit).
• Background in regulated industries such as insurance, fintech, high‑volume transactional systems, or SaaS platforms.
• Experience with mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe) and camera/document processing (OCR, VIN scanning).

Compensation

Pay Range: $72.00–$88.00 per hour (Full-Time). The posted range reflects base compensation for this role. Final offer within the range depends on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
