Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks a Traveling Solar Pile Driver Mechanic to maintain and repair pile driving equipment across multiple solar projects. This role requires extensive travel and strong technical skills in hydraulics, electrical systems, and GPS-enabled equipment.

You will work with Vermeer and Gayk machinery, perform preventative maintenance, calibrate Trimble GPS, and support field crews to minimize downtime while ensuring safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience on heavy equipment, preferably pile drivers.
• Hands-on experience with Vermeer and/or Gayk equipment.
• Strong hydraulic, electrical, and diesel system knowledge.
• Experience with Trimble GPS or similar machine control systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostics.
• Willingness to travel 50–90%.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Renewable energy construction experience preferred.
• OEM training or certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain solar pile driving equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems in the field.
• Calibrate and maintain Trimble GPS systems.
• Support field crews with technical expertise on equipment operation and performance.
• Coordinate repairs with operations to minimize downtime.
• Maintain service records, inspection reports, and parts usage documentation.
• Travel to project sites, often on short notice.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
