At Innovega, we are pioneering advanced electronics and contact lens technologies to create smart glasses for the low vision community. Our multidisciplinary team is developing cutting‑edge solutions in optics, electronics, software, and wearable systems, to deliver solutions starting with low vision, and expanding to other assistive devices and broader consumer applications. As part of our engineering team, you’ll play a critical role in defining the direction, strategy, and architecture of our software that powers these innovations.
We are seeking a Full Stack Mobile Software Engineering Leader with expertise across Android and iOS platforms, who can set the direction of our software development, build and manage a team of internal or external developers, and deliver software that is thoughtful and well tested. This role is ideal for a leader who has hands‑on experience building software from 0 to 1 and into customer hands, who thrives in Agile environments, enjoys tackling complex system integrations, and wants to deliver robust, production‑ready applications that integrate seamlessly with hardware and backend services.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining mobile applications, ensuring smooth integration across platforms and with supporting systems. You’ll work with UI/UX engineers, developers, QA, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure the mobile experience is reliable, scalable, and optimized for performance.
- Build and lead a team to develop and maintain applications for Android and iOS platforms, from UI to low‑level API integrations.
- Work with UI/UX engineers to deliver human‑centric apps for assistive products.
- Implement efficient, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices and ensure compatibility and performance across diverse devices.
- Optimize applications for speed, responsiveness, and battery efficiency.
- Some familiarity and hands‑on experience building backends including cloud, database, storage, IAM, and other related technologies.
- Lead team of internal and outsourced/consultant engineers to build high‑quality software across our entire stack.
- Recruit, mentor, and optimize the team for top performance.
- Ensure alignment of priorities across the engineering team to match company direction and goals.
- Work closely with hardware and firmware teams to ensure seamless device–app interactions.
- Debug and resolve cross‑platform and cross‑stack issues.
- Work with backend engineers to integrate APIs, cloud services, and data pipelines.
- Participate in Agile sprints, code reviews, and release planning.
- Contribute to continuous integration, automated testing, and deployment processes.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in mobile software development, with some experience in leading teams.
- Proven track record of contributing to at least one product that has gone to market.
- Proficiency in mobile development for both Android and iOS, with experience at the SDK and API level.
- Strong understanding of system integration, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Driven Agile development processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with assistive products or accessibility‑focused applications.
- Familiarity with AR/VR or wearables devices.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks for mobile.
- Willing to work across the stack to create the full solution as we build up the team.

Compensation Range: $160,000 to $180,000 + restricted stock awards
