Position Overview:

The Mobile Service Technician, Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing field-based service and warranty work on Invincible boats. This hands-on role combines technical expertise with leadership, customer communication, and logistical coordination. The ideal candidate is highly skilled across all trades, dependable, and passionate about delivering best-in-class customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Warranty Diagnostics:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of boats to identify issues covered under warranty, including defects in the hull, fittings, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Repair and Maintenance:
    • Perform repairs on warranty claims, including but not limited to:
    • Lamination Issues: Address lamination issues, surface imperfections, and/or structural integrity problems by re-laminating areas as necessary.
    • Finishing Touches: Repair gel coat, paint, and finish imperfections, ensuring a high-quality appearance through sanding, polishing, and repainting as needed.
    • Electrical Systems: Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including wiring, lighting, and onboard electronics, ensuring all systems operate safely and effectively.
  • Warranty Claims Processing:
    • Facilitate the management of warranty claims process, from initial assessment to completion of repairs, including:
    • Gathering and documenting all necessary information for warranty claims.
    • Maintaining accurate records of repairs and parts used for warranty tracking.
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Communicate with customers regarding the status of warranty claims and repairs, providing clear updates and addressing any concerns or questions.
    • Educate customers about warranty coverage and maintenance practices to enhance their understanding and satisfaction.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and departments to ensure timely resolution of warranty issues and effective communication of repair processes.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss trends in warranty claims and identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of all service work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts replaced.
    • Prepare regular reports on warranty service metrics, including claim volume, repair times, and customer feedback.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in warranty service and boat manufacturing.
    • Provide feedback to management regarding potential improvements in warranty processes, product quality, and customer service.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while performing repairs and service work.
    • Ensure that the work area is organized, clean, and free from hazards, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Provide feedback to engineering and production teams on recurring issues or field improvements.
    • Assist with boat deliveries, customer orientations, and brand representation at events or trade shows.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish) with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse customer groups.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional, customer-first demeanor at all times.
    • 5+ years of marine service experience with deep, hands-on knowledge across MEP systems, fiberglass lamination, and finishing.
    • Demonstrated team management or field leadership experience.
    • Captain experience and active U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License required or minimum of 100 hours of center console captaining experience with references and referrals.
    • Experience trailering boats safely, including through high-traffic city environments.
    • Technologically proficient; must be comfortable using Jira, email, text, and mobile apps for documentation and communication.
    • Highly reliable and self-directed; able to manage jobs with minimal supervision.
    • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight and occasional weekends.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical service role within the marine industry or boat manufacturing.
    • Familiarity with boat construction, systems, and repair processes is highly desirable.

    Qualifications:

    • ABYC or NMMA certifications.
    • Familiarity with Invincible product line or similar high-performance fishing vessels.
    • Prior experience supporting boat shows, dealer events, or customer deliveries.

    Skills:

    • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills related to marine applications.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on customer service.

    Technical Proficiency:

    • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment relevant to boat repair and maintenance (Mercury G3, Yamaha YMBS, Garmin, Simrad, etc.).
    • Familiarity with warranty management software and reporting tools is an advantage.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform work in confined spaces or elevated areas (e.g., tuna towers, bilges).
    • Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
