FleetPride in New Castle, DE seeks a Mobile Service Technician II to perform maintenance, diagnostics and component repairs on class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers. You will work in the shop between calls and may participate in after-hours rotations.

A strong welding capability and air-brake knowledge are preferred. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of repair experience, and a valid driver's license; Class A CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers.
• Welding experience is a plus and air brake certification.
• Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction.
• Provide preventative maintenance solutions and maintain productivity.
• Perform maintenance services: oil changes, lubrications, filters.
• Repair, replace, and adjust brakes and related components.
• Troubleshoot electrical, exhaust, steering, and air conditioning systems.
• Perform basic welding and fabrications as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist service calls.

Partner with the best in the heavy-duty industry and apply today!**GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION** The Mobile Technician II is expected to have mastered all applications of Preventative Maintenance and to perform basic and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements with limited supervision. Additionally, the Technician II will perform basic diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*** Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).* Provide customers with preventative maintenance solution, whenever appropriate.* Maintain 80% productivity* Prevent comebacks* Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.* Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.* Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).* Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.* Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.* Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.* Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.* Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.* Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.* Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.* Utilize machinery in order to repair or fabricate any driveshaft.* File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.* Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.* Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.* Practice safe driving.**EDUCATION & TRAINING*** High school diploma or GED* Diesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.**KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE*** 3 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers* Welding* Air Brake Certified**SKILLS & ABILITIES*** Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.* Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.* Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.* Maintain perfect safety record* Ability to lift 50lbs.**WORKING CONDITIONS****WORK ENVIRONMENT** - Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.FleetPride is the leader in the industry comprised of retail, service, distribution and wholesale divisions.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
