Job summary
The Public Health Nurse position with the Metro Public Health Department supports Nashville and Davidson County students by rotating between eight mobile clinics, providing nursing services, immunizations, and health education. You will document care in the EHR and collaborate with the NP and clinic manager to ensure high-quality service.
Required TN RN license, nursing degree, CPR, and a Public Health Certificate; Driver's license and vehicle insurance are also needed.
Qualifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee.
- Diploma or Associate's Degree in nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license with insurance as required by Tennessee law.
- Complete Public Health Certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient intake, vaccine administration, and exam support.
- Ensure accurate documentation in the EHR system.
- Manage vaccine transport, inventory, storage and monitoring via the cold chain system.
- Prepare and educate families about immunizations.
- Collaborate with the NP and clinic manager; maintain student health records.
- Provide health promotion and protection services; assist with follow-up calls and reminders.
- Perform related duties as needed.
