Department: Counseling & Psychologic Svcs Salary: $65,300 - $83,300

Description

Ability to work second shift on site, 2:30 pm – 11:30 pm, M-F.

Provide on-site mobile response to UH students who present with behavioral health concerns and/or experiencing mental health crises in partnership with the University of Houston Police Department (UHPD).

  • Conduct crisis intervention, mental health assessment, case management, and case monitoring.
  • Perform clinical assessments in various locations based on the nature of the request and assist individuals in accessing the appropriate level of care.
  • Provide ongoing case management and follow-up to clients to facilitate stabilization and transition to counseling, psychiatry, or other appropriate community resources.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other campus departmental resources and community providers to facilitate continuity of care for students in crisis.
  • Provide supportive resources/referrals to bystanders, family and friends of individuals experiencing mental health crises as needed.
  • Provide outreach and education to the UH community to promote help seeking, reduce stigma, and train on how to recognize signs of distress.
  • Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and university policies.
  • Collaborate with the Administrative Team to conduct Program Assessment that may include:
  • Collect and analyze data for clinical operations and decision making
  • Assess and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Identify and define system issues while developing and implementing effective solutions.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and university-wide meetings as required.
  • May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of post-licensure experience providing crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, case management, and care coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention, risk assessment, care coordination, case management, and hospitalizations for mental health.
  • Demonstrated organization, listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied population.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary of mental health professionals.
  • Ability to exercise resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and good judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-licensure experience providing crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, case management, and care coordination.
  • Experience working within a law enforcement agency and collaborating with law enforcement officers in response to mental health crises.
  • Experience working in a crisis center, emergency department, mobile crisis unit, or psychiatric facility.
  • Experience working as a counselor at a college/university counseling center, outpatient mental health setting and/or health care setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with various stakeholders, internal and external partners.
  • Experience in developing and implementing outreach programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a large system, and to participate and collaborate effectively in a large agency.
  • Experience synthesizing, analyzing and using data in decision making for clinical operations.
  • Experience in program evaluation and assessment.
  • Experience maintaining and developing policies and procedures that reflect clinical practice.
  • Knowledge of research and trends related to effective models of outpatient mental health delivery that can be applied to higher education.

Other Requirements

  • Licensed as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Walking and/or standing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodations, and travel for work between properties on and around campus.
  • Ability to work second shift on site, 2:30 pm – 11:30 pm, M-F.

MQ: Requires application of advanced principles, technique and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Licensed as a LPC, LCSW, LMFT or Psychologist. Valid Driver's License. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
