The Clinlab phlebotomist registers and collects specimens from properly identified patients, receives specimens in the laboratory, enters required information into the designated computer application, and delivers specimens to the correct departments. Accurate registration, timely collection, and specimen processing are essential for the efficient operation of the laboratory.

(Per Diem including: All Weekdays 2pm-4pm + Holiday Mornings)

Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate accuracy in entering and canceling orders, making corrections in LIS as necessary. Follow current downtime procedures and accurately enter Clinlab comments for critical values.
  2. Effectively schedule and map routes for house call runs. Properly select and register patients, verify patient information, and update records as needed. Contact patients or caregivers to confirm appointments.
  3. Perform routine venipuncture using proper techniques, correctly label specimens, and distribute specimens to the appropriate lab sections.
  4. Participate in competency testing, prepare supply requests, review daily collection results, and communicate results accurately. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and adapt to changes in responsibilities.
  5. Provide coverage for phlebotomy and registration services across departments, including offsite locations, ensuring all areas are properly staffed.
  6. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned, adhering to organizational standards and behaviors.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Good manual dexterity; successful completion of on-the-job training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of hospital lab experience or a phlebotomy certification from an accredited program.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
