Job description

Centers Laboratory is actively searching for a Mobile Phlebotomist to work Full-time at our laboratory located in Newton, PA. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of prior experience and excellent interpersonal skills.

Position Summary:

Phlebotomists are professionals who specialize in drawing blood from patients. Their responsibilities include interviewing and preparing the patient for the blood draw. They must follow strict safety procedures to minimize contact with potentially infectious blood and bodily fluids. Record keeping and proper labeling are essential to ensure correct testing of blood specimens.

Responsibilities:
  1. Identify patients accurately using wristbands, documentation, or visual identification.
  2. Receive assignments, assemble supplies, and equipment according to standards, policies, and procedures.
  3. Prioritize tasks such as Stat, timed, or routine collections.
  4. Select appropriate venipuncture methods based on patient factors.
  5. Reassure and help patients relax during the procedure.
  6. Locate suitable veins for puncture.
  7. Draw blood using proper techniques and equipment.
  8. Dispose of sharps and medical waste safely.
  9. Follow the correct order of draw for test tubes.
  10. Use personal protective equipment appropriately.
  11. Ensure quality and quantity of samples for testing.
  12. Label test tubes correctly and handle samples for testing.
  13. Limit to two attempts per patient; seek assistance if needed.
  14. Answer patient questions and provide information.
  15. Maintain accurate patient records.
  16. Adhere to health and safety standards.
  17. Monitor patients for reactions and equipment operation.
  18. Educate patients on post-procedure care.
  19. Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.
  20. If trained, follow procedures for specimen storage and centrifugation.
  21. Ensure patient confidentiality.
  22. Attend training and company meetings.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred; if not, completion of hospital or lab training program required.
  • Understanding of blood drawing practices.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and sterilization techniques.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record, adequate insurance, and access to a suitable vehicle.
