Job summary

TridentCare in West Sacramento is hiring a full-time Phlebotomist who travels to client facilities, mostly nursing homes, using their own vehicle. You will follow phlebotomy procedures, identify patients correctly, and ensure proper labeling and specimen handling.

Pay starts at $19 per hour with potential to $22 based on experience. Requires state licensure if applicable, valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have current clinical licensure, if required by state.
• Knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and tourniquet use.
• Knowledge of specimen preservation and patient preparation.
• Must have a valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance; access to a vehicle.
• Must maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain time sheets.
• Proficient in written and verbal English.
• Ability to interact professionally with clients, patients and staff.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Understand resident rights and patient care policies.

Responsibilities

• Drive personal vehicle to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed.
• Follow established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples.
• Identify patients accurately prior to drawing blood.
• Label specimens properly and complete requisitions with billing info.
• Transport PHI according to policy and maintain proper records.
• Plan and organize draw schedule with patient priority in mind.
• Complete time sheets and logs accurately and neatly.
• Coordinate with dispatch, payroll, lab and courier teams.
• Maintain equipment in good order and report issues promptly.
• Be on-duty, respond to mobile device promptly, and accept future assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

Description

Pay based on experience starting at 19.00 to 22.00

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Employee will drive their personal vehicle (unless other accommodations are made) to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by company dispatcher or assigned Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/ Area Lead.
• Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
• Properly and accurately identify patients according to phlebotomy patient identification policy prior to drawing.
• Ensures that specimens are properly labeled, in the proper tube and accompanied by a completed requisition, including patient billing information prior to transport.
• Followsphlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
• Plans, organizes draw schedule with attention to priority of patients.
• Completes written logs, time sheets and other required records in a neat and accurate manner.
• Works cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier departments.
• Maintains all equipment in good working order and reports problem immediately to Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
• When on-duty, answers company issued mobile device promptly and is ready and available to work.
• Notifies dispatch of availability for future assignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have current clinical Licensure, if required by State.
• Must possess knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of the puncture site.
• Knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures.
• Must have a current and valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance.
• Must possess access to a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements.
• Must maintain a good driving record.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time sheet records.
• Must understand and be knowledgeable of the resident rights, patient care and patient right to refuse.
• Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions.
• Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner.
