Job summary

Vision To Learn is seeking a licensed Optometrist to operate in Bakersfield, CA, on a mobile clinic basis. This independent contractor role offers up to 5 days/week with no nights or weekends, and compensation of $85–$95 per hour.

Work within a mission-driven team delivering school-based eye care to underserved students, with glasses delivery and no remote requirements. The position emphasizes flexibility and community impact.

Qualifications

• California Optometry License required.
• Mobile clinic experience preferred.
• Must pass Department of Justice background check (LiveScan) and drug test.
• Ability to commute across Kern County.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision evaluations: check VA's, assess binocular vision, IOP, pupils, perform a full refraction and prescribe appropriate correction, and assess ocular health.
• Prescribe vision devices and test patient on applicable equipment to determine appropriate correction, and instruct patient in proper use.
• Document patient diagnosis accurately in internal systems.
