Job summary

Connect for Health Colorado is seeking a Backpack Journalist to independently research, produce, and publish compelling multimedia stories about customers, partners, and statewide impact. As a mobile, self-contained content producer, you will handle reporting, interviewing, writing, videography, and editing end-to-end.

You will travel Colorado-wide to document authentic experiences, translate health policy into clear storytelling, and collaborate with Communications, Marketing, Policy,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, digital media, film, broadcasting, multimedia production, or related field.
• Five+ years of professional journalism or multimedia storytelling experience.
• Ability to translate health policy topics into clear, human-centered stories.
• Strong reporting, interviewing, and editing capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Research, pitch, and develop original multimedia stories.
• Manage multimedia assignments from concept to publication.
• Conduct interviews with diverse stakeholders including customers and policymakers.
• Capture high-quality video, photography, and audio in the field.
• Edit and produce cohesive stories for digital distribution across channels.
• Translate complex health insurance concepts into accessible content.
