Job summary

Keller Trucking, part of Keller Logistics Group, is seeking a Mobile Mechanic to travel to various locations to diagnose and repair the fleet’s semi-truck tractors and trailers, and maintain diesel engines. A valid driver’s license is required due to the mobile nature of the role.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, brake and steering inspections, relining brakes, tire installation, and safety inspections per FMCSA standards. Independent work and strong safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferably from a Diesel Mechanics program.
  • Brake certification in accordance with FMCSA § 396.25 required.
  • Experience with OEM software is preferred.

Keller Trucking is currently in search of a Mobile Mechanic. This position will travel to various locations to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul the fleet’s semi-truck tractors and trailers, and maintain and repair various types of diesel engines within the fleet. As this is a mobile position, a valid driver’s license is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of all assigned equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, or pressure gauges.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
  • Use hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, or precision instruments, as well as power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, or jacks and hoists.

  • Read and comprehend service troubleshooting guides using OEM software.
  • Perform safety and annual inspections in accordance with FMCSA § 396.25 required.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns during working hours as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company/OSHA standards.
  • Assist in the completion of required documentation including vehicle write-ups, work orders, and timecards.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with drivers, vendors, and other employees regarding vehicle repairs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferably from an accredited Diesel Mechanics program.
  • Basic level of skill in diesel after treatment, air brakes, electrical and lighting systems.
  • Brake certification in accordance with FMCSA § 396.25 required.
  • Experience with OEM software is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
