Job summary

Stream is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support operation and maintenance of building systems across properties. You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC components while delivering concierge-style service to partners.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to policies, and ongoing training, with opportunities to grow in commercial building operations and engineering programs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma preferred.
  • EPA Universal Certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • When applicable, obtain required city and/or government licenses or permits (i.e., Boiler Operating Permit, State Maintenance Electrician's License, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform general repairs and replacement of building components, including fixtures, plumbing and electrical.
  • Apply basic HVAC distribution and controls knowledge to address work orders.
  • Participate in water treatment chemical programs established on the property.
  • Maintain operation logs and files related to central plant operations and inspections.
  • Provide concierge-style customer service to internal and external partners.
  • Develop understanding of fire alarm and life safety systems at the property.
  • Adhere to Stream and property policies and safety procedures.
  • Attend required training activities and seminars.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Commercial Building Operations, Property Management, or related industry preferred.
  • Develop sufficient computer skills to administer required engineering programs.
  • Read and understand manuals and instructions provided in writing or verbally.
  • Understand correct usage of power tools and related equipment.
  • Compute basic mathematical equations.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies.
  • Understand and apply correct PPE usage.
  • Meet shift working requirements; may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
  • Knowledge of operating characteristics of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Maintenance Technician with Stream, you will assist in the operation and maintenance of various building systems and equipment of each property and become knowledgeable about engineering field responsibilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with performing preventive maintenance and repairs on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including, but not limited to, pumps, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and air handling units.
  • Perform general repairs, maintenance, and replacement of building components, including, but not limited to, building fixtures and appliances, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Apply basic knowledge and skills in HVAC distribution and controls to adjust and/or take corrective actions to resolve work orders.
  • Participate in the water treatment chemical programs established on the property.
  • Maintain operation logs and files, where appropriate, to include, but not limited to, central plant operations, chemical consumption logs, and other equipment or operation inspection logs specific to the property.
  • Provide concierge-style customer service to internal and external partners.
  • Develop understanding and usage of fire alarm and life safety systems at the assigned property.
  • Adhere to all Stream and property policies and procedures and safely perform all duties.
  • Actively participate in required training activities and seminars.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Commercial Building Operations, Property Management, or a related industry preferred.
  • Develop sufficient computer skills to effectively administer required engineering programs.
  • Read and understand a variety of instructions, including equipment instruction manuals, furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.
  • Understand correct usage of power tools (pneumatic, electric, or engine drive), drill motors, saws, grinders, and impact wrenches, etc.
  • Compute basic mathematical equations.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies.
  • Understand and apply the correct usage of all personal safety equipment.
  • Meet the shift working requirements of the assigned property; shifts may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
  • Knowledge of operating characteristics and parts of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work indoors approximately 50% of the time and outdoors approximately 50% of the time.
  • Use olfactory, auditory, and visual senses.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Climb up and down stairs and ladders.
  • Access remote work areas and confined spaces (i.e., crawl spaces, roofs).
  • Use a full range of manual dexterity (i.e., sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, walking, and lifting).
