Job summary

The Anaheim Public Library seeks an experienced Principal Librarian to lead and coordinate Mobile Library services, including a Bookmobile and a STEAM Van, and oversee daily operations across the Anaheim Community and local school districts.

The role supervises professional and paraprofessional staff, delivering high‑quality customer service and driving innovative programs, literacy, and community engagement through collaboration.

Qualifications

• MLIS/MLS/MSLS degree and four years of professional librarian experience.
• Experience in a specialized subject area or two years as Senior Librarian.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, confidentiality, information freedom, and cataloging principles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Mobile Services and other library functions, including reference and collection development.
• Develop and implement service plans for branches or work units.
• Lead projects and committees to enhance services and policies.
• Resolve patron issues escalated beyond frontline staff.
• Create volunteer and internship opportunities to engage the community.
