Job summary

Faris Machinery in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician / Field Service Mechanic to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain construction equipment at customer sites across western Colorado. Strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics is required.

This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with standard hours and potential overtime. Travel is frequent to customer facilities and sites; OEM training and professional growth

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5–10 years of heavy equipment technician experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; Class B CDL preferred.
• Technical training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or related field.
• Welding experience.
• Experience in a heavy equipment dealership environment.
• Current CDL (Class B or higher) and OEM certifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain construction and heavy equipment in a dealership shop environment.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and machine components.
• Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and scheduled service repairs.
• Rebuild and replace engines, pumps, motors, cylinders, and other major components.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
• Accurately document inspections, labor, parts usage, and repair work performed.
• Work closely with the Service Manager and Parts Department to ensure timely and accurate repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Participate in OEM training and professional development opportunities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced technicians when needed.
