Job summary

GeoStabilization International (GSI) is seeking a Traveling Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to maintain and repair equipment at active job sites across North America. You’ll travel from home to sites, troubleshoot independently, and keep crews operational.

A valid experience in heavy equipment repair is required, with willingness to travel and work extended hours during peak seasons. The role includes on-site diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and documenting repairs.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose problems, plan repairs, and work independently.
• Clear communication and accurate repair documentation.
• Willingness and availability to meet travel and schedule requirements.
• Five+ years of field-based heavy construction equipment repair experience.
• Advanced hydraulic and electrical diagnostic skills.
• CDL and/or relevant mechanic certifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems in the field.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
• Respond to equipment failures and complete timely, reliable repairs.
• Identify root causes and address recurring equipment issues.
• Document repairs, parts used, and equipment status.
• Help operators recognize early warning signs and perform basic maintenance.
• Follow safe repair procedures and communicate when equipment should remain out of service.
• Travel between project sites and work in physically demanding environments.
