Job summary

County of Riverside seeks a Medical Transportation Technician for Riverside location to transport patients and staff across Riverside County. CDL required with applicable class experience; ambulatory and wheelchair care skills are essential.

Role involves vehicle operation, record-keeping, safety responsibilities, and potential use of mobile health units. Some shifts may include on-call or after-hours work; bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Requires valid California driver’s license (Class A/B may be required for some positions).
• Six months of providing basic patient care is required.
• Six months of transportation and/or support services experience for medical or community agencies.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and basic vehicle maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, visitors and staff between service areas and to appointments.
• Verify patient identification and obtain signatures as required by health information regulations.
• Operate County vehicles to provide transport and shuttle services.
• Maintain transport records and vehicle upkeep; ensure cleanliness and supply levels.
• Assist patients in entering/exiting vehicles and use lifts for mobility-impaired individuals where required.
• Ensure patient safety enroute by driving defensively and following policies.
• On-call, weekend and evening shifts may be required.
• Transport tissue specimens as needed.
• Operate RV Mobile Health Unit and assist in setup/teardown of mobile sites.
