Job summary

Fairchild Equipment in Brown Deer, WI is seeking a Forklift Service Road Technician to service customer sites and our branch shop. You will perform mechanical repairs to ensure equipment runs at peak performance and communicate with customers on repairs and estimates.

Recent technical school graduates in automotive or diesel repair are encouraged to apply. A valid license, the ability to use your own tools, and strong customer service skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Valid driver\'s license (CDL may be required).
• Forklift repair experience desired; intermediate maintenance experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety manuals and operating instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers or employees.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Must provide own tools for the job; annual tool incentive offered.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years mechanic experience or related education.
• Basic knowledge of computer and internet software.

Responsibilities

• Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain material handling equipment per work orders.
• Accept and manage repair orders as assigned by Service Writer.
• Explain repairs to customers and obtain approvals.
• Read work orders and diagnose malfunctions by listening to equipment.
• Provide accurate repair estimates where appropriate.
• Repair, service, or recondition equipment as approved by the customer/Service Manager.
• Coordinate parts with Parts department for timely repairs.
• Record complete repair details, including model/serial numbers and hours.
• Maintain safety and professional appearance at customer sites.
