Job summary

Jobtailor in Lithonia, GA is seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy duty diesel trucks and trailers. You will inspect, service, and repair components across braking, electrical, hydraulic systems, and perform preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy duty trucks and trailers
• Provide quality customer service
• Inspect and repair truck/trailer bodies and systems
• Perform preventative maintenance on fleet trucks and trailers
• Assemble/disassemble engines and clean fuel tanks
• Maintain hubs and axles and replace as needed
• Inspect and replace trailer parts including tires
• Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Test systems for performance issues
• Ensure trailers meet DOT safety requirements
• Compile inspection reports and report findings to management
• Respond to client queries in person or by phone

Job description

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair our customers Heavy Duty Diesel Trucks and Tractor Trailers
• Provide quality customer service.
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components
• Performing preventative maintenance measures on fleet semi-trucks and trailers
• Assembling and dissembling vehicle engines and cleaning the fuel tanks.
• Maintaining hubs and axles and adjusting or replacing them when required
• Inspecting, servicing, and replacing trailer parts, including tires
• Checking and repairing the brake, electrical, and hydraulic system
• Testing all systems and equipment for performance issues
• Ensuring that trailers meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements.
• Compiling inspection reports, documenting repairs, and reporting all findings to management.
• Responding as soon as possible to client queries, interacting with our customers in person or via phone.

Requirements

• 4+ year Trailer Mechanic experience or related field preferred
• Follow oral and written instructions to complete daily tasks
• Basic reading and writing skills to complete customer repair orders
• Basic computer skills to submit repairs for billing
• Ability to work in a team environment while following shop safety procedures
• Knowledge in ABS, brakes, diagnostics, electronics, lights, hydraulics, suspensions
• Provide own tools
