Job Description
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Equipment Mechanic is responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and servicing gas and electric golf carts and diesel, gas, propane, and electrical lift truck equipment with recommendations and specifications published by equipment manufacturers.
Position Responsibilities
- Removes and installs guards, tracks, roller frames, cabs, masts, forks, and other external parts
- Removes and installs engines, transmissions, steering clutches, drive axles and other major components
- Cleans parts with petroleum-based solvents or other similar cleaning methods
- Assembles and disassembles components as assigned or directed and performs limited machine diagnoses
- Evaluates worn and used parts; when necessary, order new and rebuilt parts from parts books, shop parts personnel and/or outside vendors
- Operates and tests equipment after repair and makes limited machine adjustments
- Completes assigned service reports needed to document parts and labor expenses and repair methodology
- Maintains and services company material handling equipment
- Maintains service records for company material handling equipment
- Repairs and troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems that are normally associated with material handling equipment.
- Maintains and services construction vehicles and equipment, which includes propane, diesel and gas engines
- Maintains and services battery-operated vehicles and equipment, including chargers and charging systems
- Performs miscellaneous housekeeping duties including sweeping and mopping floors, painting shelves, racks, and aisle markers, etc.
- Uses CMMS system to report all jobs completed
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.
Essential Skills And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 4 years of experience of maintaining electric, gas, and diesel forklifts, golf carts, aerial lifts, and skid steer
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift certification
- Knowledge of battery-operated vehicles including chargers and charging systems
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job but with minimal direct supervision
- Good knowledge of tools and the functions of them
- An understanding of the Safety Requirements for equipment and tools
- Basic computer skills
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Beneficial Skills And Experience
- Greater than 4 years of experience maintaining industrial equipment.
- 2-year vocational education certificate or equivalent knowledge preferred
