Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) in District 03 seeks a mechanic to maintain, repair and overhaul heavy equipment and complex mechanical systems, under the Mobile Equipment Shop Superintendent. The incumbent must be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and participate in required DOTD training and education.

Compensation starts at Mechanic-1 $17.18/hour, Mechanic-2 $19.67/hour, Mechanic-3 $21.05/hour.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training as a mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Overhauls, rebuilds and performs major repairs on heavy-duty diesel equipment.
• Performs diagnostic tests on various systems to locate malfunctions.
• Provides guidance to lower level mechanics and assists in repairs of hydraulic systems and engines.
• Removes drive lines and rebuilds on heavy duty diesel, cars and light trucks.
