Job summary

Reworld Waste is hiring a Mobile Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair and overhaul a range of heavy and light industrial equipment, including front-end loaders, forklifts, tractors, and trailers. The role supports facility operations through preventive maintenance, part replacements, and system diagnostics.

The position requires reading manuals and schematics, operating and inspecting heavy machinery, and performing major overhauls and emission system work.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance experience, or two years of mechanical trade school + two years’ experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; valid certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service records for industrial equipment.
• Repair braking, diesel, fuel, powertrain, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects and ensure safe operation.
• Read manuals, blueprints, and drawings; dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment.
• Overhaul equipment and adjust subassemblies using tools and cranes.
• Troubleshoot diesel engine emission systems and perform major overhauls.

About the role

The Mobile Equipment Mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such asfront-endloaders, forklifts, tractors, trailers,and other light- and heavy-operating equipmentin support of theFacility’soverall operations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Schedulemaintenancefor industrial equipmentandmachines and keepequipment service records
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts to braking system, diesel engines, fuel system, power train, electrical system and hydraulic system
• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications
• Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy-operatingequipment using hoists and hand tools
• Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency
• Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies such as transmissions, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes
• Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
• Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools
• Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work onall facility vehicles to ensure that equipment and vehicles operate efficiently and safely
• Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears
• Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent
• Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices
• Fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal
• Must be able to work on a rotating shift schedule and work overtime as needed including nights,
• weekends, and holidays.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engine emission systems.
• Perform major overhaul on diesel engines.
• Perform major overhaul on transmissions and other gear boxes.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of four years vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance experience, or two years of mechanical trade school training and two years’experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic
• Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as front-end loader and tractor/trailer
• High school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Walk, stand, sit, and climb
• Consistently work in various weather conditions
• Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
• Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
• Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
