Job summary

Kooner Fleet Management Solutions is seeking a DOT Inspection Technician to join our mobile field team. In this entry-level role you’ll perform DOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers, using company-provided tools and a service vehicle to keep fleets compliant and on the road.

You’ll work Sunday-Thursday, 7:00AM - 4:00PM, enjoy weekly pay, a fuel card, health benefits after 30 days, a 401(k) match, and growth opportunities as you gain experience in the fleet maintenance industry.

Qualifications

• Diesel, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle technical training (technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience) preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT inspection standards and out-of-service criteria, or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills - you know how to connect and communicate with customers and drivers alike.
• Comfortable using mobile apps, navigation systems and digital tools to stay organized and document repairs.
• Ready for the outdoors - rain or shine at customer yards.
• Independent, dependable, and self-motivated - you take pride in getting the job done right.
• A positive attitude and Safety-first mindset.
• Must be at least 20 years old with a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform onsite DOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment.
• Perform tire changes and replacements on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers as needed, including safely removing and installing tire and wheel assemblies.
• Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled DOT inspections and tire replacements.
• Use inspection tools and equipment - including tread depth gauges, brake stroke gauges, and other diagnostic aids - to accurately assess vehicle condition against DOT standards.
• Clearly and accurately document inspection findings, flag out-of-service items, and recommend additional repairs to advanced technicians for follow-up as needed.
• Stay productive and efficient, meeting or beating industry-standard inspection times.
• Take ownership of a company-issued service vehicle, perform maintenance and pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure safety compliance.
