Job summary

Kooner Fleet Management Solutions in Las Vegas, NV seeks a DOT Inspection Technician to perform on-site inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment. This entry-level role supports fleets with DOT compliance, tire service, and maintenance in the field.

You will use tread depth gauges and other inspection tools, document findings, and coordinate with advanced technicians. A valid driver's license and clean record are required; a diesel/HD tech background is

Qualifications

• Diesel/HD vehicle technical training or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Familiarity with DOT inspection standards or willingness to learn.
• Must be at least 20 years old with a clean driving record and valid license.

Responsibilities

• Perform onsite DOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers.
• Perform tire changes and replacements as needed in mobile field environment.
• Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
• Use inspection tools to assess vehicle condition against DOT standards.
• Document inspection findings, flag out-of-service items, and refer for follow-up.
• Take ownership of a company-issued service vehicle and conduct pre/post-trip checks.

About the DOT Inspection Technician Role

As a DOT Inspection Technician , you'll be the trusted technician our customers rely on to keep their fleets on the road. This field-based role is perfect for entry-level technicians or recent tech school grads who are looking for an opportunity to launch their career in the fleet maintenance industry.

Where You'll Make an Impact

• Perform onsite DOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment.
• Perform tire changes and replacements on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers as needed, including safely removing and installing tire and wheel assemblies.
• Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled DOT inspections and tire replacements.
• Use inspection tools and equipment - including tread depth gauges, brake stroke gauges, and other diagnostic aids - to accurately assess vehicle condition against DOT standards.
• Clearly and accurately document inspection findings , flag out-of-service items, and recommend additional repairs to advanced technicians for follow-up as needed.
• Stay productive and efficient , meeting or beating industry-standard inspection times.
• Take ownership of a company-issued service vehicle, perform maintenance and pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure safety compliance.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Diesel, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle technical training ( technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience) preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT inspection standards and out-of-service criteria, or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills - you know how to connect and communicate with customers and drivers alike.
• Comfortable using mobile apps, navigation systems and digital tools to stay organized and document repairs.
• Ready for the outdoors - rain or shine at customer yards.
• Independent, dependable, and self-motivated - you take pride in getting the job done right.
• A positive attitude and safety-first mindset.
• Must be at least 20 years old with a clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
