Job summary

Clean Harbors Hammond, IN is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Mechanic to join a safety-focused team. The role handles routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs for the company fleet across local branch locations.

Requirements include a high school diploma, valid driver's license, 1+ years of experience with heavy-duty trucks, 1+ years DOT inspection experience, and ability to travel up to 70% with own basic tools. Excellent safety record and flexible availability are a must.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• 1+ years prior experience working on heavy duty-trucks and equipment.
• 1+ years DOT inspection experience required.
• Must be able to provide own basic tools.
• Willingness to travel within assigned territory up to 70%.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Ability to determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections, scheduled PMs and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts & replacement as needed.
• Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repair of company fleet at branch locations.
• Correct equipment deficiencies and conduct preventative maintenance as directed by management.
• Thoroughly inspect equipment and identify unsatisfactory conditions.
• Maintain mandatory PPE compliance during all work activities.
• Travel to other locations to perform repairs and maintenance as required.
• Complete and submit all paperwork for PM schedules.
• Maintain active light duty or DQ driver status as per mobile vehicle type.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
