Job summary

Velocity Vehicle Group in Raleigh, NC, is seeking an experienced field service technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on light to heavy-duty tractors and equipment. You’ll operate a service truck and conduct on-site inspections, often in challenging weather, to ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety.

You will diagnose breakdowns, replace worn parts, perform tire services, and verify repairs with test drives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
• Experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field.
• Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Class B license.
• Fleet and mobile maintenance experience a plus.
• Basic set of hand tools up to 1 1/2" and 1/2 drive pneumatics.
• Technical understanding with attention to detail.
• Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Capable of maintaining accurate inventory control.
• Ability to implement a strong safety environment at all times.
• Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting preventive maintenance inspections and servicing.
• Perform inspections at customer locations with a service truck, including inclement weather.
• Provide diagnosis and repairs related to vehicle breakdowns.
• Repair, replace, adjust, disassemble and assemble components in major systems.
• Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls.
• Perform tire replacements, rotations, mounting and dismounting as needed.
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine and safety standards.
• Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Contain costs by using warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
