Job summary

GTG Peterbilt – Great Bend is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician to travel to client sites providing maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for diesel vehicles and equipment. You will handle engine, brake, cooling system services, and DOT inspections, communicating status to customers and management.

Responsibilities include performing scheduled repairs, maintaining inventory, and ensuring vehicle readiness across varied customer sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Minimum DOT Inspection Certified (additional schooling and certifications preferred).
• Must provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Current CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Clean driving record and pre-employment drug screening.
• Proficient computer skills and strong customer service abilities.
• Must be able to work independently and communicate with team.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled repairs, maintenance, and services as instructed by the Service Manager.
• Maintain vehicle condition by listening to operator concerns.
• Conduct CVI and DOT inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine issues and electrical systems.
• Repair mechanical/electrical malfunctions and replace basic parts.
• Verify serviceability by test drives and adjustments.
• Communicate with customers and Service Management on status.
• Maintain service truck and inventory; manage paperwork.

We currently carry a full line of parts in our inventory along with maintenance and repair services. We have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Technician. The successful candidate will travel to client sites and provide maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for diesel vehicles and equipment to include but are not limited to engine services, brake service, engine diagnosis, inspections, cooling system service, etc. Most common service calls include scheduled services and repairs, break down response, DOT inspections.

Requirements

• Perform instructed and scheduled repair, maintenance, and services as needed on various vehicles and equipment as instructed by the Service Manager.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator concerns.
• Conducting CVI and DOT inspections.
• Diagnosing and repair of minor engine issues.
• Repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions.
• Replacing basic parts and components.
• Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
• Communicate with customers in a professional manner on job status and schedule status.
• Communicate regularly with Service Management on job status and schedule status.
• Maintain appearance and service truck in a professional manner.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Stock and maintain service truck inventory, tool collection, and all necessary paperwork daily (candidate to provide own tools).
• Adhere to all traffic laws.
• Must be able to work independently and communicate with team when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Minimum DOT Inspection Certified (additional schooling and certifications preferred).
• Must be able to provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (50+ lbs.), and sitting for long periods of time in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
• Experience interacting directly with customers with high levels of customer service and communication skills.
• Must have neat, legible handwriting.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Current CDL or be able to attain within 90 days of hire.
• Clean driving record, pre-employment drug screening and background check required.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
• Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
