Interstate Fleet Services - Mobile Diesel Mechanic Job in Scranton, PA

Job Description

As a Mobile Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for providing emergency roadside and on-site repairs for a variety of trucks, trailers, and other similar commercial vehicles. You will respond to service calls, diagnose and repair mechanical issues, and perform tire repairs and replacements. This is a mobile position requiring you to work independently and efficiently to minimize downtime and get our clients back on the road safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-Call Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and provide roadside assistance and on-site repairs for trucks, trailers, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Diagnose and Repair Mechanical Issues: Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues with diesel engines, braking systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, and other components. Conduct necessary repairs to restore vehicle functionality.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance are conducted in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all repairs, services performed, and parts used in accordance with company protocols.
  • Customer Service: Communicate clearly and professionally with customers to provide updates, explain repairs, and offer maintenance recommendations.
  • Maintain Equipment and Tools: Keep all service vehicles, tools, and equipment clean, well-maintained, and in proper working condition.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a focus on truck and trailer repair. Experience with mobile or roadside repairs is preferred.
  • Certifications: ASE Certification in Diesel Mechanics is preferred, but not required. Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diagnostics tools.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues quickly and efficiently under time constraints.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients in stressful situations.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy parts and equipment, work in various weather conditions, and be on call for emergency repairs.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
