Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems. They can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision, continually learning new skills and techniques. A successful Technician II adheres to company policies and meets performance metrics.

DUTIES:

  1. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile environment.
  2. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, engine electronics, steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  3. Diagnose malfunctions using test instruments and perform road tests to verify repairs.
  4. Manage parts inventory and perform safety checks and vehicle inspections.
  5. Communicate effectively with clients and support team members.
  6. Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  7. Document all work performed accurately using company devices and applications.
  8. Complete all required forms and documentation promptly.
  9. Work independently, managing your schedule and priorities.
  10. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
  11. Ensure all work complies with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 3 years' experience or equivalent education/certification with 5 years' experience.
  • Possess necessary hand tools.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Pass DOT background screening and physical; valid DOT medical card preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR.

Certifications:

  • ASE T8 (PMI) required within 18 months.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8 (if not already obtained), and 608/609.

  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform labor-intensive tasks.
  • Ability to use tools and diagnostic equipment accurately.
