Position Overview

Cox Fleet, a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance services nationwide, is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II. The Technician will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow‑up repairs, diagnostics, and related duties while meeting high performance metrics under the supervision of senior technicians.

DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.

Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.

Inspect and test defective equipment to identify problems, using sound judgment to evaluate alternatives.

Alone manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and maintain company‑issued service vehicles with safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.

Document work and upload pictures on Repair Orders (RO) via the company’s iOS device and TRAIT application.

Complete DOT forms and other documentation timely, and manage own daily schedule with independence.

Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved vendors and communicate with management for repair estimates and RO findings.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED, plus 3 years of related experience (or an alternative combination such as a higher degree or 5 years of experience).

Possession and supply of a set of hand tools required for job duties.

Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.

Successful completion of DOT‑regulated background screening and physical if applicable, with a valid DOT medical card or physical as required.

Minimum age 21, safe driver with a valid state driver’s license and Driver Qualification File.
