Compensation

Hourly base pay rate is $31.30 - $46.97/hour. The hourly rate may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation such as commissions or incentives.

Job Description

Fleet Services, a Cox Automotive company, is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II. Responsibilities include performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, diagnostics, and other duties. The technician can perform advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision, continuing to learn mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful candidate complies with all policies and achieves high performance metrics.

DUTIES:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, engines, transmissions, and more.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments and road testing vehicles.
  • Manage parts inventory and perform safety checks and inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and support teams, document work, and obtain parts as needed.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and timely, work independently, and maintain productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess and supply necessary hand tools.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) and 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
  • Pass DOT background screening and physical.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to drive in accordance with DOT requirements, and at least 21 years old.

Certifications Required within 18 months:

  • ASE T8 (PMI)
  • ASE 608/609

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1, L2

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to select appropriate tools and evaluate distances.
  • Use logic and reasoning for troubleshooting.
