Position: Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics on various truck equipment. The role involves advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision, with ongoing learning of additional mechanical skills. The technician must comply with company policies and meet performance metrics.

DUTIES:

1. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
2. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, engine electronics, and more.
3. Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using test instruments and road test vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
4. Manage parts inventory and perform safety checks and vehicle inspections.
5. Work with clients to assess needs, provide information, and resolve issues.
6. Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, welding equipment, and lifts.
7. Document work performed, parts used, and observations using company devices and applications.
8. Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
9. Work independently, managing your schedule efficiently.
10. Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
11. Procure parts from vendors as needed.
12. Communicate with management regarding repairs and approvals.
13. Follow safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
14. Maintain the company vehicle and perform safety checks.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
3. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
4. Pass a DOT-regulated background screening and physical prior to employment.
5. Current DOT medical card or valid medical exemption.
6. Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate regulations.
7. Valid driver’s license and a clean 3-year MVR review.

Certifications (to be obtained within 18 months):

• ASE T8 (PMI)

Preferred Certifications:

• ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8 (608/609)
